COVID-19 is a contagious disease that began in late 2019 and has affected the entire population. COVID-19 caused a global pandemic and many deaths, as well as resulting in a quarantine that lasted for over three years by the WHO standards. The worldwide quarantine had impacted both schools and work life causing them to completely shut down and become mainly virtual.

Recently, people have believed that COVID has “gone away.” This caused everyone to feel relieved and made people believe that their lives wouldn’t be affected anymore. However, this disease cannot exactly “go away” and continues to affect families today.

Healthessentials says, this disease still exists and there have been many new cases, which is very important to track. This helps people understand the disease better and helps the government when making public health decisions. This is why it is useful that there is a public tracker that is easy to find.

The worldometer Coronavirus statistics shows that there are currently 770,874,669 worldwide cases, resulting in 393 cases per day. There have unfortunately been 6,959,303 deaths. Most of these cases have come from the United States. With the US having 103,436,829 cases and 1,127,152 deaths as of October 6th, 2023.

China currently reports 99,311,610 current cases and 121,714 deaths. This results in China receiving 109 new cases per day. Right after China would be India, which has 44,998,525 cases, 532,301 deaths and 33 new cases everyday.

In the United States, the top three states with the highest cases are: California, Texas and Florida. California reports 12,447,994 cases and 104,930 deaths. Next up, Texas with 8,828,201 cases and 94,962 deaths. Lastly, comes Florida with 7,792,934 cases and 90,740 deaths. New York currently has the fourth most cases in the US. New York has 7,171,635 cases and 78,103 deaths.

According to Westchester COVID-19 tracking, Fortunately Port Chester and Rye Brook have a very small number of cases compared to these three areas. Port Chester currently has 190 cases while Rye Brook only has 50.

It is important to keep yourself protected during these times to help lower your risk of infecting yourself or others. To stay protected, wash your hands and stay away from anyone who is infected. Make sure to get tested as soon as possible if you are experiencing symptoms and/or think you might be infected. This way, you can find out the next steps to take in order to get better.

Unfortunately, these numbers are only going to continue to get higher and higher. Everyday more and more cases will be announced. The world is still experiencing a pandemic and there is no exact known time when COVID-19 will officially ‘end.’
