Mr. Glazer – Advisor

Mr. Glazer is an English teacher at Port Chester High School! He has worked here for 10 years and likes to spend time at home with his son, Noah.

Mr. Thomas – Advisor

Mr. Thomas is an English teacher at Port Chester High School! This is his third year as a member of the Rams. In his free time, he likes to read, write, painfully watch the Knicks, and perform theatre.


Thomas d’Esperies – Editor-in-Chief

Thomas is your 2023-24 Port Light editor-in-chief. He is currently a senior at Port Chester High School, a member of the marching band, tennis team, and IB diploma programme. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing video games with friends, and writing.

Ava Osorio – Managing Editor

Ava is currently a senior at Port Chester High School. Ava enjoys reading about politics along with history and is always ready for a debate. Outside of the Port Light she works at Colony Grill, is Debate Club President, and partakes in a bunch more activities. In her spare time, she plots her takeover of the United States.


Yana Patel – Social Media Manager & Editor

Yana Patel is the media manager for The Port Light! She is also a writer and editor for this club as well! She is currently a senior at Port Chester High School and also an IB Diploma Candidate. This is her second year in the club. Fun fact, she has twelve piercings and two tattoos. She is very open minded and down to learning something new from everyone around her!


Heiry Pena – Social Media Editor

Heiry is the assistant media editor for The Port Light. She is a senior this year and this is her second year being a part of The Port Light! She has dyed her hair three times and she is in the acapella group the Port Chester Sound.


Kathleen Scarola – Arts Editor

Kathleen is a senior at Port Chester High School, and is the arts editor and a writer for the Port Light. She likes writing and keeping up to date with what’s going on in the world. Kathleen enjoys English and music while in school and is additionally involved in: marching band, winter percussion, varsity softball, and the debate team.


Allegra Burke – Sports Editor

Allegra is a senior at Port Chester High School. She is a part of the varsity cheerleading and track teams. She loves spending time with friends. One of her favorite things to do with friends is go out and try new foods and restaurants. A fun fact about her is that she does EMS and aspires to work in the medical field when she is older.

Matthew Palma – News Editor

Matthew is a senior at Port Chester High School. He is the President of the 2024 Senior Class and on the varsity swim team. One of his favorite things to do is to spend time with his dog. He is also well known at Port Chester for purchasing a RV.


Katherine Balbin – Junior Editor

Katherine is currently a junior at Port Chester High School. She loves coming-of-age novels and frequently writes about social activism with the goal of spreading awareness.

Karah Provenzano – Junior Editor

Karah is currently a junior at PCHS and is involved in a multitude of activities. She is a member of the varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. During her free time, Karah loves to spend time with her friends, family, and dog named Champ. Her favorite subject in school is math and she wants to major in either journalism or mathematics in college.


Hermione Leon – Journalist

Hermione is a freshman at Port Chester High School. She is in the drama club as Juror #2. Hermione loves to act and read. Hermione is caring, honest, and a very opinionated person. She wants to study acting, entrepreneurship, and literature in the future.  


Daniela Lucas – Journalist

Daniela is a senior at Port Chester High School. She participates in a variety of activities including band as the section leader of the flute section, orchestra on the violin, and a variety of other Clubs. On top of that she’s the Co Vice-president for the National Honors Society.  


Melanie Maurad – Sports Reporter

Melanie is a senior at Port Chester High School. This is her first year being a part of The Port Light and she will be taking the role of a writer for the newspaper. She loves reading all kinds of stories. She cannot wait to work with her peers into making this year’s newspaper the best it can be!


Sebastien Sabillon – Political Reporter

Sebastien is new to the newspaper and is eager to make a meaningful contribution. Although his time in The Port Light will be brief as he is a senior, he is determined to maximize his impact. He considers himself a diligent student with average intelligence, a sports enthusiast (especially when it comes to soccer), and deeply interested in global politics and philosophy.


Melody Sapione – Journalist

Melody is a senior writer for The Port Light. She reads endless articles about global conflicts and hopes to be an advocate in any environment. She also enjoys baking and watching Spongebob. Fun fact: Melody is on Girls Varsity Swimming!


Giselle Tlatelpa – Sports Reporter

Giselle is a senior at Port Chester High School. This is her first year taking part in The Port Light and she will be taking the role of a writer for the newspaper. She enjoys reading all kinds of stories and looks forward to helping the newspaper reach its full potential.


Jennifer Alzerreca – Journalist

Jennifer is a senior and this is her second year in The Port Light. She loves cats and music. Her favorite song at the moment is Remember When by Faye Webster. She is excited to participate in The Port Light again!

Nataly Garcia – Journalist

Nataly is a senior at PCHS. She plays three different sports which are volleyball, basketball and softball. During her free time, she hangs out with friends, plays with her English bulldog, and hangs out with her sister. She is quite busy throughout the year, and so it may be hard at times for her to be able to write for the newspaper, but she will try her best to support the club year-round.


Valeria Novoa – Sports Reporter

Valeria is in her last year at Port Chester High School. This is her second year in The Port Light as a sports and media writer. She enjoys writing about sports and events that occur at the school.  When writing about the media, she likes to go into detail about events that get heard about but not spoken about.

Ariana Pareja – Journalist

Ariana is a senior at Port Chester High School. She enjoys music, napping, watching movies, and reading. Her favorite food is grilled cheese with tomato soup. She can not wait to start writing for the The Port Light again!


Ashley Sanchez – Journalist

Ashley is a senior at PCHS.  She is a writer for The Port Light. During her free time she enjoys listening to music and drawing.
